How it Works

Our swimming lessons are on Monday nights from 6pm at Te Ngaengae Pool. Classes are at 6:00pm, 6:30pm and 7:10pm (squad).

There are no swimming lessons in school holidays or on Monday public holidays.

Children are assessed then placed into classes with others at a similar level. Younger children are taught in the kids’ pool, and coaches are in the water with them. As they progress, they will move to classes in the lane pool.

Our volunteer coaches are parents and senior swimmers from the club, who teach to the Swimming New Zealand curriculum. Our coaches complete Swimming NZ qualifications and can choose to also complete a first aid course, giving them skills that are also useful outside our club. Previous student coaches have gone on to get paid work as swimming coaches once they leave school.

We offer our teen swimmers the opportunity to begin shadowing and supporting other coaches once they turn 14, with the ability to take their own class once they are 16 and have completed training.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Naenae Swimming Club is volunteer run, and would not be sustainable without the support of our coaches, committee members and parent helpers. We are always looking for more people who are willing to help – please email us, message us or come and talk to one of the team on a Monday night (we will be wearing purple t-shirts).
